When we’re the reason someone believes in the goodness of people, as the Buddha says, then we light the path not just for ourselves, but for those others also.

By being that reason, we warm the hearts of others, we uplift their spirits. And for that brief moment in time, we’re connected on a level that supersedes the physical.

It’s the most precious gift that we can give to ourselves and to other people when we light the path for all of us.

Lighting the path is about being a role model, or being there for others. The simple things make the most difference. For example, paying a cup of coffee forward, for those helping in disasters may not seem like much. However, it lets them know they are seen and appreciated.
